Fern Canyon, Jun 17. Needs a permit May through September — book it on recreation.gov. Gold Bluffs Beach Road has shallow creek crossings; fine in dry weather, not a rental-car promise.
Crater Lake, Jun 18. The full 33-mile Rim Drive usually opens late June or early July. Mid-June you get the west side to Discovery Point. Cleetwood Cove, the only trail to the water, is closed through 2028 and no boat tours run.
Tioga Pass, Jun 13. Opens anywhere from late May to early July. If it is shut, skip Mono Lake and enter Yosemite from the west via Bakersfield and CA-41.
